Recently i read about Arnold’s stupendous success in the year 1971 through his book “Total Recall” ( which i am really very fond of ) how he had won 3 of the biggest bodybuilding competitions. He had met Jim Lorrimer who was a big celebrity in sports in USA at that time and he invited Arnold to participate in the bodybuilding competition “Mr. World”. Later also Arnold maintained his friendship with Jim Lorriimer and together they achieved a lot in the sport of bodybuilding and promote the sport in Columbus, Ohio. Arnold calculated that there were 3 major and biggest competitions in bodybuilding being held in close succession to one another. So how could he compete in all the 3 and win them ! He had already visualized this in his mind ! Jim Lorrimer agreed to send a jet to pick up and drop Arnold and his friends of bodybuilding who were competing from one place to another where these 3 competitions were being held in close time frame.. Firstly Arnold competed in Mr. Universe where he was surprised to see his childhood idol Reg Park coming out of retirement to compete against Arnold and other competitors. Arnold eventually won the title. He remarks in his book that he was sad to defeat his idol Reg Park. Then he headed to Mr. World to be held in Columbus,Ohio. He ran up against Sergio Oliva a hugely big name in bodybuilding at this time. He had won 3 consecutive Mr. Olympia titles in succession. Arnold studied Sergio’s posing routine and studied him thoroughly and during the competition defeated him despite Sergio’s incredible physique. So Arnold was the champion Mr. World too. Next to come was the biggest one Mr. Olympia and Sergio had come there too and due to some very intelligent and competitive words from Arnold just before the competition to psychologically shake the confidence of Sergio Oliva’s and then during the competition since Arnold had specially studied him and for every one pose of Sergio Oliva Arnold did 3 poses was able to defeat Sergio who was the major threat to Arnold. It was Arnold’s very very competitive attitude and physical and mental strength that Arnold captured 3 top bodybuilding competitions one after the other that same one year he could achieve this gigantic and gargantuan effort. i learnt all of these by reading Arnold’s latest book : “Total Recall”.
